Fun time

DSC00121
it was the day that our prelim ended..
and the five of us.. Felix Me Lennon Wanyin Sheryl-Lynn with photographer Amelia...
was joined by Dickson later part of the day to watch movie..
went Cathay Cineleisure together..
we had pasta at Pasta Mania.. then took some Neoprints..
watched Wall.E which was quite a unique type of movie concept...
and then xbox at E2 at the 9th level..
in the chamber somemore.. haha..
simply just fun day out..
Dickson was so high after the game of Halo 3 that he kept talking about it after when we was going home.. while the rest had dinner at Wheelock Place
its Teachers' Day today..
and i hope all teachers would have enjoyed this day...
and there was the Teachers' Day Celebration as usual
like last year.. it was far from perfect..
well well.. talking is cheap... typing is much more cheaper than that.. so dont mind my words..
if you(21st student councilors maybe?) are affected by it
FLQ155

Video introducing Jun Liang and Rina..
Jun Liang was dare enough to dig for 'Gold'
hahahaha..
FLQ156
they sang Two Years and Friends which are both in Chinese
won the first runner-up but it was a job well done..
after school i chiong back to BDS..
Raymond Darren Chevy Kenny Alicia and Dear were already waiting for me..
so i joined them and went round the school to show our appreciation to all teachers..
so grad that all of them who taught me before remembered my name..
haha.. Kenny was damn sad that few of the teachers cannot recall his name..
we went off to Kallang Leisure Park to walk walk..
then Marina Square for Sakae Sushi..
i lost the bloody Zhong Ji Mi Ma.. and pushed down the last few piece that were left behind down my throat..
damn.. almost vomited.. haha..
went to the Comex
damn lots of people.. and damn lots of good and cheap stuff..
but the people turned my feeling low to even glance through and think of the probability of buying certain product..
lol..
went looking for volleyball for the outing on Monday...
but in the end.. though there was volleyball around.. Darren thought that its of bad quality.. haha..
went home with Dear after that..

Safra Bay Run and Army Half Marathon

early in the morning.. we woke up at 4am..
had a light breakfast and then waited for my Brothe's friend - Jian Hao
took a white luxurious cab to the starting point..
there was almost an accident in front of us on the road...
a car crossed our cross from another direction..
whoo man!
reached the Padang.. the field was covered with nothing but mud..
damn! lol..
pity those wearing expansive shoes by Adidas Nike or Aacis lol
lots of people around.. mostly people from the Army..
deposited our bags and went forward closer to our starting point..
DSC00447
my Brother and i
DSC00448
my Brother and Jian Hao
it was raining when we took these photos..
DSC00449
DSC00450
there.. people getting hyped up and ready to go...
the emcee was asking us to get our IPU and cashcards ready because the very first thing we are running through after the starting line will be the ERP gantry lol
those really going for it were rushing to the front to make sure their chip time = gun time..
DSC00451DSC00452DSC00453DSC00454DSC00455DSC00456
DSC00457

a very refreshing run it was.. really for sight-seeing runner like me..
people were taking photos all over..
but my phone wasnt with me..
all these photos are taking by my Brother
DSC00458

yea.. the ERP!!! how can we miss this again
DSC00459
DSC00460
everything finished with the ERP again.. lol
so..  1km... 2km... 3km................10km... turning point at ECP..
there are people playing muscial instruments and stuff to push all the runners on..
then 12km.... 15km... 20km.. bananas and 100plus free flow at stations..
theres a section of the route guarded by the Military Police...
it said, "Speed Check! speed not lower than 8km/h!" lol..
then LAST 500m...
i thought it was finally the last lap already..
but it was real struggle.. until the point that they say FINAL 100M!!!
then there are lanes for 10km runners and 21km runners both competitive and non-competitive runners..
and there.. the finishing point.. i saw the timer.. it read 2hr 09min ~~s..
i chiong all the way.. and i think i made it before 2hr 10mins hahahaha
i posed nicely for the photo shoot which is automated..
once the champion chip got scan.. the photo is taken..
so.. lets wait for the picture to be uploaded..
well well.. during the run..
the organising Safra had seeded few of the Safra running clubs member for pacing the other runners..
i was thinking of maybe completing in 2hours?
so i ran with the runners with the shirt.. "follow me if you want to finish in 2hours"
i guess im not yet ready for 2 hours..
lol.. at the 5km mark.. i cannot catch up with them anymore..
so i slowed down.. waiting for the "follow me if you want to finish in 2hours and 15mins" people to appear..
until the turning point at east coast park..
i saw my timing.. 56mins..
hmm..
im still within 2hour and 15mins pace..
,,,,,,,,,
this bring out a point..
we will never know how we are doing clearly during the process of work..
but there will be little hints and clues here and there.. all around..
those thing can aid you if you identify them clearly..
using the run as an example..
the things that will hinter one's mind are
the crowd in front of you...
those different and many of the runners over taking you..
looking at the distance sign broads and thinking...
still at ~~km only ah??
but if one can see the opposite of things..
like.. looking at the crowd behind you..
looking at those in front and tell yourself someone in front is going to stop somehow and you'll be able to over take them..
taking each cup of water and bananas as self-motivations and tell yourself you wont stop until the next station..
how different will the journey be?.. ask yourself..
never waste this run at all... although there is still pain at my joints and muscle..
after the run i went to collect my finisher medal.. and lucky draw and stuff..
took some time to find a spot to rest after collecting back my bag..
i thought my Brother would be already back..
but to my shock... when i called him and he was still at the 17km mark lol!!!
well well.. he took all those photos and did not train for quite a while..
reasonable la.. lol..
FLQ143
FLQ144

walked to Clark Quay..
saw Jun Liang.. and so lucky he was there..
i could not even see the ending of the queue man..
some others joined him too.. haha i think those at the back really sianssss...
saw damn lots of SRJCians around..
yea..
i think the computer system wanted to punish us for cutting the queue..
it jammed just before our turn..
and everything was changed to manual liao..
collected and i went off to meet my Mother who brought us for a Massage...
its at the top level at the Paragon.. Helio Asia..
wa.. shoik man..

finally got one for myself..
this marks the end of the Safra run...
and then another beginning..
the Nike+ Human Race..
next week man..
i think it will be a super hyped up event...

hopefully we'll achieve something together as a College..
FLQ148

A Trip Back

in the midst of this prelim..
i decided to go back my secondary school to find my former teachers
so went back to Bedok South with Joalin...
FLQ139
FLQ140FLQ141FLQ142
everything has became so beautiful...
conducive environment for studying..
there is still this MOE project going on at the site where the basketball court used to be..
an indoor sports hall..
omg.. what a privilege that is for the future students of BDS..
first teacher we saw was Ms Shek..
had a little chatter with her before i went to find Mrs Mah..
tried to find her afterwards but she wasnt around already
so went on the stairs and i called Mrs Mah..
another teacher answered the call.. and i asked for Mrs Mah...
"yea.. this is?"
"im Lin Qiang"
"oh Lin Qiang!.. you're back! okok hold on ah"
haha..
we chatted for quite awhile..
felt really motivated and ready to push on for this a level..
achieved what i wanted to get for coming back - to catch up with my teachers and to find motivations..
i hope Joalin felt the same way too..
almost cried in front of Mrs Mah again when she was going back to work.. but well i suppressed it...
spoke to Mr Low and Mr Yao too..
cant find the other teachers.. perhaps i should try to grab them during the teachers' day celebration ba..
continue to push on!!!

Transition Element

so.. is it easy to find my blog? lol..

FLQ137
Bedok Jetty
FLQ138
after much consideration... i went running to east coast again just now..
the evening breeze... coupled with many of the hot girls running with their pets, cycling and skating.. what a enjoyment.. lol..
during my run to the jetty.. i saw a few VJCians.. and many many runners running..
training for the many upcoming running events..
many of them run in groups..
theres all men group.. couples... mixed.. and all women groups..
but that is not my point..
what i see more is there is team work..
people pushing their peers..
somehow these scenario made me recall the posters i saw in few of the MRT stations previously..
its by Adidas... the reason number <number tag> "he wont let me finish alone"... etc..
so i asked myself why do i run?
it all went back to the time when this year just started..
Mr Yang asked the class to write our new year resolution..
one of which is to complete a marathon for me..
and why do i write that?
finally.. i think it the time in Yang Shuo that inspired me to run..
i started my 100km challenge.. Jun Liang and Xue Feng soone joined in..
Jun Liang got his 100km shirt already.. and im happy for him..
hope Xue Feng got the time to finish it at well..
i left with just 4 stamps to reach 200km..
but well .. i dont know if i can complete it..
because i really hate track running now.. dont know why also..
just going round and round.. abit boring for me..
one round in the track its like running from my house to jetty the feeling know.. damn.. lol
coming back to the reason for running...
hmm.... to challenge myself?.. too cliche le ba..
i guess im running for fitness now..
but its not a good reason.. because that does not really reflect my attitude towards running..
we'll see ba...
so.. Prelims has started and rolling..
its the first time my hand felt pain after writing 2 and a half econs essay
lol.. chem 3 is gone.. but wont give up on my chem 1 and 2...
tomorrow maths... i hope i can score..
didnt really study anymore..
yea.. thats me la..
i texted to daryl...
and he bought the good news to me..
i passed my compass test..
YEA!!!... i was very happy for a few mins.. then it was ok~..
told my parents about it..
they were happy for me.. and quite amaze too..
told my brother too ..
and he was like WOW!!!
lol.. he went for the compass test before and he failed.. maybe thats why..

hai..
sometimes i think im a catalyst among people..
feel like some loser... sore loser man..
thats a terrible feeling..
well well... until the A levels.. i'll stay strong..
after much consideration by myself..
i think its time to change my blog name..
since Dear agree with me that i do not blog about our stuff.. and its only my blog.. so.. it shall be named after me instead of us.. yea..

Motivation Session

So... It is left with 2 days to the start of the preliminary examinations. How are you doing? If you are prepared and ready to go, good for you. If you are not prepared, I would say you are actually really, just that you are thinking too much. Trying to think back the time when you all are studying for your O levels, what all of you have done just to get clear to this college now? Hmm... I read WanYin's blog and discovered that she has already received her personal letter from the school, civics tutorial and herself. Many SRJCians will soon receive it, I guess. But for me, I have not.
What is getting ready? How to judge if one is ready then? It is all up in our mind, isn't it? That is the difference between the thinking of an optimistic and a pessimistic. Everyone knows that I am a very optimistic person. In shooting, in academic, in 'street situations' and in myself. Of cause, I am not a perfect person. I got my down times too. Can you imagine me failing for Maths and Chemistry in Class and Lecture Test. HAHA. I guess you will be thinking that i think very highly of myself, but well, that because of the high confidence I have for myself. When I collect my failed papers for Maths and Chemistry, the first response I had for myself was, "Damn!!!". The next response for myself, after a bit of thinking, I think it was acceptable as i did not study for it. The third response for myself was that, I think its alright as it was just an opportunity cost that paid off well - I passed my GP paper 1! My weeks of 'training' for my composition finally paid off!!! I was ecstatic. Results and number of days left often affects people's feeling, emotions and confidence and these results in people saying things like, "it is just these few days away for prelims! I need to study for it!" when actually they have already done what is required for them to get what they want, taking into account that it is feasible to achieve by standards. Ask yourself again, are you really not prepared? Try saying, "bring it on!".
In the field of academic, what often been seem as success is through hard work. The famous equation, Success = 99% Hard Work + 1% Luck. Until to date, I still do not fully appreciate this statement. It is because the equation missed out a majority component which is called: Others. Now, what is this others that we are talking about? It varies from people to people. For me, i think academic success = 50% of the ability to make what you have learnt to your advantage + 40% of Hard Work + 10% Luck. Can you figure your equation of Academic success for yourself?
Reading this post that is written by me may have positive or negative implications for you, but please understand that I wanted good for you, the reader. For you may be hating me from the day I was born or what so ever. HAHA. I was triggered to write this after reading some of my friends' blog and some conversation with friends. You know who you are right? Use whatever time you have to imagine you sitting in the examination hall doing your papers. Plan your light revisions along the way during these two weeks and I think you will not have any big problems. Study will break in between, place 'motivations' by your side to reward yourself after studying for one or two hours. 'Motivations' can be half an hour of music, chocolates, pornography or whatever suits you best. Haha...
Believe in yourself people. It is a huge challenge for everyone, you and me likewise. To have confidence, you must first love yourself. Look into the mirror and into your own eyes and tell yourself "I LOVE YOU!" and also that you will do well in this coming examinations. Best wishes for all SRJCians! Lets show the others SRJC is Serangoon Junior College and not some college that tries to imitate Raffles.
Do you find this convincing? LOL... Hope you do
C: CHEERS!
