WE are Hellweekers!!!

5 sunrises..
the journey full of downs…
shits…
disappointment..
physical work outs..
hammerings..
illnesses..
tiredness
torture
WE pull it out as ONE..
the 31st Batch Naval Diver Trainees
i need to stress on the word WE… really..
they say the week is no longer called Hellweek.. but Team Building Week for a reason..
we need to stay strong.. stay tight in order to finish this week together..
no one can really stand alone during this one week..
without sleep and with lots of activities people wont like to do..
without my buddies around me.. i think i will just drop out at the first nightfall..
its amazing to us all..
to see us back there.. completing the torturous 5 days..
a time that all of us will never ever forget in our lifetime..
the time when we…
all hugged together to keep each other warm..
have one boat on top of our heads running like the end of the world
put the paddles in the water together to keep us moving..
hold on to the same rope and run
push the tire
crawl side by side
do the Haka with fire in our eyes..
sing the Frogmen Song with unity
laugh at ourselves for doing funny things..
we pushed ourselves to push the one beside us to help push ourselves..
                                                                                   it goes round..
and finally jumping around with tears in our eyes hugging each other to congratulate all of us for pulling it through the week we called Hell
we also witness the people within ourselves..
people who are born to be leaders..
and people who are pure selfish..
the line can be draw much more easily.. like what our instructors had mentioned..
this made me think back to my schooling times.. when i face this essay question..
”Are leaders nurtured or born?”
hmm……….
after the Hell week that we had..
i begin to understand why Naval Divers have this cohesiveness with them..
its like a community of Divers that is so unique..
well.. i guess i cant put my idea in words.. haha..

Mother brought me to Paragon again for massage..
wow man.. its really heavenly …
moreover its just after hell week..
hahahah..
well.. at least my neck can move already..

happen to watch Singapore Vs Liverpool at Dear’s place..
and disappointment really hold on to me tight..
looking at Singaporeans wearing Red not because red is the colour of Singapore’s Jerseys but Liverpool’s…
shouting and cheering all for the Reds..
maybe 9 of them in the whole stadium is cheering for the Lions?
what ashamed to all of you

Hellweeker-to-be

FLQ-092FLQ-093
went back to SRJC just now to collect my SGC..
was a couple of ex-SRJCians too..
Felix and Jian Hao were 2 of a few..
didnt manage to get a clear shot during the College Day..
so now.. Imagination.Character.Values thats the juice of our new Vision
and the SRJC Tree…
Bai Nian Shu Ren was written on the metal plate infront..
thats all the changes ba.. haha..
life in NDU is… i can say very very relax for the week..
went for Land Demolition on Monday..
got the blow the Bangalore Torpedo..
and to prime the PE
we observed how much the impact that the explosive produces and seen the detonation wave
some how we tend to forget the 1 min of silence that need to be observe after each blow..
Sea Swim on Tuesday and Wednesday..
a 40mins run on Thursday..
and the rest of the time was just mere resting..
and finally on friday..
30th Batch handed us the DVS flag.. our course flag in another words..
Shern got the honor to be the one representing the 31st Batch to collect it from our seniors..
after that.. we had a session with our PC and CSM.. sharing sessions..
but somehow the sharing sessions turned into a crying session..
i can say 80% of us cried at the moment..
when we reflect and think about our time in NDU as the 31st Batch…
its Team Building Week this coming week..
we will be again seeing some of us going off due to their respective reasons..
and i really hope no one will go up to any of the instructors to say that they want to quit
this is a test.. i would say it is a test of a life time..
for Singapore.. its only NDU..
i think im really fortunate to be selected to be trained in here…
and i never regret i made this decision to come here before my Airgrading..
NEVER
when Sunday comes..
instructors promise us that we will be treated like Kings.. before the breakout
and when the time comes..
i think they will make sure we become dogs
hahaha..
3rd, 4th or 5th Sunrise..
thats the aim..
lets leave a legend behind for the 31st batch!
and enjoy our Heaven Week with pride calling ourselves Hellweekers
HOOYAH!

Forcing out the Second thought

we were all waiting at the auditorium…
2lt Bernard came in and talk talk talk to us..
then 1wo came in..
with a smile..
”im waiting for the CO to call me and confirm if he is coming..
if he is not.. then no 24hours training lor..”
the call came..
”CO not coming already.. lets go la..”
we were all stuck in between the believe or not mental status..
and as we exit the auditorium…
thunder flashes went off…
bom bom bom…
hell day has started!
pays to be a winner for the whole 24 hours..
chow runs.. boat pt.. swim.. sea circuit.. and the night of them all…. humming..
humbing.. for the start.. the class went together..
carrying field pack with sand bag of 10kg each..
we hummed.. 5 rounds around NDU.. timing to meet was 20mins..
at the 4th round.. all of us were still together..
2lt Bernard came with the buggy and told us that he want winners and losers.. if not no boat will be secured..
we didnt listen to him.. and continued as a class..
20mins 30+seconds.. no one secure..
the instructor said.. 5 rounds again..1 jerry can.. 20 mins.. 2 boats will secure
we went again..
so 2 boats secured and they went butt to nut and sleep..
then other 5 boats went again.. this time 3 rounds… 10 mins..
likewise.. 2 boats secure..
we went and 2 boats was secured..
mine didnt…
left 3 boats.. again 3 rounds in 10 mins
my boat did not make it again..
so.. we went again… so thats 19 rounds in total..
i hummed until my voice is gone..
hahahaha.. kind of weird when i think about it..
well.. the 19 rounds.. all we did not make it..
there was the last 3 rounds..
field pack off.. jerry can off..
we just have to run the 3 rounds.. and still 10 mins..
wao.. how did i survive it man…
then there was the grand finale..
the haka to be performed for CO Dive School..
we did the best haka we ever performed..
and halfway through the haka.. my tears came pouring down..
and and and finally.. we were secured and the 24 hours hell day is over..
the abrasions that everyone gets was really unbearable..
we see ourselves like a platoon of zombies when we were getting back to our cabins and enjoy our heaven day…

the 24 hours.. for me.. i learned really alot..
alot about how people gets selfless and the others getting selfish..
how to react you are tired.. and facing situation that you dont know if you can make it through..
how to think properly when lack of sleep and stuff like that..
thats 24 hours..
120 hours is coming our way.. 1 week to go…
some of us will be saying hell week is one week..
and some of us will be saying hell week is 120hours..
oh man.. this is really a big test for all of us..
i just wish that i can make it through…
Hooyah 31! lets make it through together!

went out with Ray Darren Chevy and Dear…
first time driving outside.. with all my close friends and gf in the car..
the state of mind was really to drive safely man..
hahahaha..
that a good steamboat in Tian Fu

Relight the fire in me

this week.. its like a week without military life..
how shoik was that..
but well its not on purpose..
maybe its something about my 7 stars?
haha
on Monday.. i told Master that im going for my TP in the afternoon before the 6k timed run..
then we said if i pass my 6k today.. i will book out straight away…
Felix did a great job to pace me..
”mai tu liao.. its today liao…” hahahaha..
26mins 59seconds.. 1 second to fail.. how close can i be..
did my warm down and BOOK OUT LO!
Driving test was good…
saw Audrey before the test.. and she was going to take her test the following day haha..
warm up was good..
the instructor really really corrected my crucial mistakes..
and finally at the waiting room to wait for my tester..
i was the last to leave the room..
and i was praying that i get this tester… this particular tester…
and then he came in and shouted for me..
the test begins and it all when well..
6 points.. and i finally passed my driving test.. hahaha..
3rd time.. what a sad thing to say out
back to camp with a present wrapped up.. and all those people inside my 01-06 were laughing like mad..
who wraps pizza box with gift papers?
that will be me.. hahaha
the next day was also good..
sea circuit for me.. i was determine to pass this time round..
and is too much to stay at 18mins and 0 what seconds..
and YES!!! i skipped the 17mins mark to get a nice 16mins 50second..
Shern was like WTH?! when he came to give me the “happy-for-buddy” hug
next was the endurance training.. another insight to the hell week
boat 5 secured at the first round.. and was seated all the way through..
oh man.. i love Boat 5 la..
then there is the SAF Day on Wednesday..
i was having a fever and thought i can suck it up.. cos most likely there wont be any physical activity on the day
but but but…
the only mistake we did was to have 3 person Squatting down in the MPH..
and that was their big deal to hammer the class for like hours…
i fall out during the first 10 push up and was too weak to suck it up liao..
sad man..
the next moment i was hearing “touch the fence”
then i saw them in push up position and 3 by 3 they run to the dive pool and get wet..
then saw them roll on their SMARTEST No 4…
from the smartest 4 to long 4… they were covered in dirt all over.. and that was when i really cannot take it liao.. and decide to report sick…
went to the SMC and 2 days attend C was given..
the 2 days.. i simply slept the 2 days la.. so nothing much..
then Friday came.. my Father’s 100th day..
so fast.. its the 100th day already..
hai..
called Master at the end of everything and he said i no need to go back liao..
haha..
there goes the week..
Saturday came.. SRJC’s 20th College Day..
Student of the Year is Cheryl Lek.. then Vice Chairperson of the Student Council..
i must really say that she is damn it a beauty! haha..
the word gorgeous is for her.. hoho..
and her speech was… sensible… moving.. motivating.. enlightening..
i cant say more.. she is just something next to being perfect
too bad.. i dont know her in person man.. hahah
went out with my shooting people and spend good times sharing our military experience…
